WELCOME TO GREATER EXPERIENCE SOCCER ACADEMY’S SOCCER LEAGUE
HOSTED BY:  CHESAPEAKE ACADEMY

JUNIOR STRIKER ACADEMY! THE BEST GAME IN TOWN!

Introduction

Throughout the soccer world it is common knowledge that in the United States we play too much eleven-a-side soccer at too early an age and therefore miss out on maximum touches with the ball. Small sided games have a universal appeal as each player is totally involved in the game and develops skills at an accelerated pace. The U4, U5 and U6 Junior Striker Academy program encourages movement through soccer related children’s games with a catchy name or theme. A young player’s soccer experience should be a positive and fun one. Competitive pressures should be discouraged and players should be focused on the “everyone wins” theory. During GESA Junior Striker Academy, children will be taught the basics of kicking, passing, trapping, and shooting. More importantly, they will have fun and develop a love for the game. Each team will have between 15-25 players broken into four (4) small squads within the team. GESA will provide coaching staff. However, Parent volunteers are welcome.

Training Program

Junior Striker Academy play once a week (day to be determined)  for 1 ½ hours. The team will first conduct a group warm-up (10-15 minutes). The squads will then break for a short practice session (20-30 minutes), followed with 3 v 3 games (two 15 minute halves) against each other. The seasons include 8 weeks of scheduled games.

Just think practice and games right after school! More time for family in the evenings and weekends.

Encourage movement through soccer related children’s game. A young player’s soccer experience should be positive. Having FUN should be emphasized. Competitive pressures should be discouraged.

Teaching Emphasis

Focus on increasing feeling and experience of movement and challenging players’ eagerness to learn. The use of smaller sided games is recommended (1v1, 2v2, etc.) in introducing basic soccer techniques. Coach’s emphasis should be on increasing enjoyment through improved play. Coaches at these age groups will provide their players with a productive and fun environment through age appropriate activities.

This will help to ensure that each player develops his/her technical skills.
